Soul Legend

If you are like me, crazy about old school music then please note this down; “Soul Legend” with Arno Quinze. This guy KILLED it on the stage at ” Au Reservoir” last Friday where he sang groovy Motown classics non-stop for three hours. The crowd went bananas and people were dancing by the tables, on the stage and by the bar during the whole show. I’m definitely seeing this guy again!

Jazz Fever

While 21 million french people were watching the presidential debate between Hollande and Sarkozy last night, me and Yordanos escaped the political war and went to Le China to listen to some funky jazz. Ludovic Louis, also known as Lenny Kravitz’s trumpeter, was the main act and gave the audience an amazing show. Mr Louis had also invited the very talented soul artists Ben l’Oncle Soul and Stefan Filey.

Even though the musicians gave us an impressive show, the artist that blew my mind was Lenny Kravitz. I guess he was there to enjoy Mr. Louis’s music, like the rest of us, but I could never imagine that I would have the chance to meet this icon, shake hands and thank him for his great music. I’m still on cloud nine!

Första Maj

Celebrating Första Maj (Labour Day) has never been this much fun! Me and Yordanos  spent the whole day in the beautiful sun walking around town, enjoyed lunch by Île St-Louis and sipped on a Kir at Au Père Tranquille. La vie est belle!

Funky musicians all over town!

I really wanted to join them…

Caramel Factory

Behind the name “Caramel Factory” will you find Charlie and Guillaume,  two cool guys from Paris that sure knows how to organize a fun party. We used to work for the same company over a year ago but now are they busy introducing Caramel Factory’s “Up-Tight” events to the party scene in Paris. Their first party took place last Saturday at Les Enfants de Paris and they had invited the artist Ernesto Novo!

A Wild Desire

One of my colleagues turned a year older yesterday so me and a bunch of colleagues/friends went to celebrate him at L’Express Bar. This placed is owned by three Englishmen and I liked the vibe, this place is nothing like a french bar. Another interesting aspect was the artist Joël Andrianomearisoa from the duo Ethologic who had organized an event called “Still” at Express Bar. He was handing out these small envelopes with printed notes to all the guests and I got this one;

I Satt On 3000 €

Le Café Beaubourg is a new love of mine. I visited this place for the first time recently, even though I’ve passed by so often, and I was I blow away by the impressive architecture.  Le Café Beaubourg is located in an area where you can find interesting modern art and the design of this place is no exception. Christian de Portzamparc is the man behind the amazing creation(s) and I was told that the price for the chair I was sitting in was 3000 euros…my ass deserved noting but the best.

Chez Saïd

The new year couldn’t have started in a better way. I had two lovely family members from Stockholm and London here for a visit in January and we had a great time. What I like about having people visiting me is the feeling of falling in love with Paris all over again. There are so many things to discover in this city and doing it with family/friends is truly a wonderful thing. I got to know a new place during their stay that I would like to share with you guys and it’s restaurant called “Le Bec Fin”, a.k.a Chez Saïd. If you are curious about trying the best couscous in town; this is the place to visit!

The Key To My Heart

I found another great place to eat in Paris. My friend Ailin took me to an American restaurant the other day and that girl knows me so well. I’m all about burgers, grilled chicken and fries, not very healthy but I need it from time to time. The restaurant is called “Joe Allen” and it’s located in the center of Paris. I was surprised of how “american” this place felt, even some of the staff only spoke english. The portions are big so make sure to be really hungry when you visit this place but do not skip a dessert for God sake! They serve the best apple pie in town that will make your mama cry.

You better like you some burgers if you wanna hang with me.

Magical Paris

Anything is possible in a city like Paris. If I said that you can take a trip to New York just by walking in to a bar in Paris would you believe me? No? Ok, come and see it for yourself at “Harry’s New York Bar”. I had a drink there for the first time the other day and I love this place. The bartenders are true artists that serves well composed drinks in white coats, yes I’m talking white lab coats. And don’t forget to try the hot dogs!

Belleville Tin Tin

Belleville is the closest thing to a “China town” in Paris and I love this area. You can come here for some fun shopping, get your nails did or grab a bit at one of many good asian restaurants. Me and my friends went to a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant the other day  called “Belleville Tin Tin”. The food is good but the service was a bit strange, not really that social, rather getting the orders done and the food out fast. We had some dessert too and their dessert menu was really something! I think the owner must have been inspired by the 80′s and never got his mind off it…
